Account options

At Stitch-Maps.com, anyone can view stitch maps. But to do more with Stitch-Maps.com, you need to register an account with us. Three account options are available:

Free registration

Your name and a valid email address are all that’s required to register a free account with Stitch-Maps.com. Once you have an account, you can contribute stitch patterns to the open collection and view them as stitch maps. You can also contribute swatch photos.

Basic subscription

A basic subscription at Stitch-Maps.com comes with five additional perks:

• For each stitch pattern, Stitch-Maps.com will keep track of your current row for you, highlighting that row and making it easier to follow.

  

• You can mark your favorite stitch patterns, then view this list of favorites by selecting the “In favorites list ” checkbox when browsing through the open collection or any curated collection.
• You can specify a number of preferences that control the default behavior of the Browse pages, the Contribute page, and every stitch pattern’s detail page. For example, you can specify that the Browse pages should display search results as swatch photos rather than stitch maps.
• When contributing a stitch pattern, you can optionally mark it as “private.” No-one but you will be able to see that stitch pattern. This is handy when the copyright to a garment pattern states that you may make copies “for personal use only.”
• You can curate collections, and mark them as public or private. Public collections are a great way to share a themed set of stitch patterns with other knitters. Private collections let you organize groups of stitch patterns for your own use.

A basic subscription costs $15 per year, or $2 per month. New subscribers that choose to pay on an annual basis can enjoy a free, 30-day, no-obligation trial period.

Premium subscription

Designers, teachers, publishers, and other professionals may want to opt for premium subscriptions. They have the same features as basic subscriptions, plus five more:

• You can export stitch maps and symbol keys as publication-quality images in PDF, EPS, and SVG formats. These vector formats print clearly at any scale, and can be edited to your liking, making them perfect for inclusion in knitting patterns, class handouts, and other publications. Your premium subscription also grants you the license to use these exported images in commercial publications.
• You can mark stitch patterns as “hidden.” This is similar to marking stitch patterns as private, with one small difference: though others won’t be able to discover your hidden stitch patterns when browsing through the open collection, they will be able to see a hidden stitch pattern if you provide them with a direct link, such as https://stitch-maps.com/patterns/display/subtle/. You can then include links in pattern PDFs, making it possible for your customers to view the stitch maps on this site and – if they have a basic subscription – track their current rows.
• You can create hidden collections. These are ideal when you want to provide your customers with access to several hidden stitch patterns via a single link.
• You can create custom links, making it unlikely that anyone would guess at the links for your hidden stitch patterns and collections.
• You can create affiliate links, and earn commissions when site visitors follow your links and subsequently purchase subscriptions.
