Waffle pattern

From a sweater in VOGUEknitting International, Winter 2007/08, page 79. Interesting combination of crossed stitches and eyelets.

Some time later I've just found a very similar pattern in "The Harmony Guide to Knitting as a Creative Craft" (Trellis on page 176). The only difference is that all the crossed stitches are right over left. This is also here.

Even later I've seen that the exact pattern is in Barbara Walker's Second Treasury, page 152, where she calls it Deep Waffle Pattern and says it comes from Switzerland. She also gives a variation called Wide Waffle Pattern.
