I’d probably use ssk rather than k2tog tbl.
Shown with a cast-on count of 22 stitches.
- Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 (RS): K1, *k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, k2tog tbl, k2tog, repeat from * to last 3 sts, k3.
- Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20: Purl.
- Rows 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19: K1, *k2, k2tog tbl, k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, repeat from * to last 3 sts, k3.
Cast-on count
- multiple of 9 stitches, plus 4
