This is a short version of my PibCo Pattern. Feel free to ask questions in Ravelry.
Follow the stitch map until you have 19 sts.
knit 8.5 rounds more
start knitting short rows: knit until 1 sts. before the end of the row, turn
until you only have 3 sts. left (starting a right side row)
k1 nub (5 in 1 increase, turn, p5, turn, slip 4 sts. k1 and lift all 4 stitches over this last knitted stitch) …

now start bind off
Cut off and weave in your working yarn. Make sure the nub is right in the middel and well fixed.
Shown with a cast-on count of 6 stitches.
- Rounds 1, 3, 5-11, and 13-19: Knit.
- Round 2: K1, incR, k2, incR, k2, incR, k1 (9 sts).
- Round 4: [K1, incR, k2] 3 times (12 sts).
- Round 12: IncR, knit (1 more st).
- Round 20: Knit, incL (1 more st).
- Repeat rounds 5-20.
