Mystery simplified

A version of the Mystery pattern by Emex modified to make wrong side rows all purl.

In the swatch I tried different ways of working the one to two increase in row 5. In this case I think it's best to knit into the back then the front of the stitch, which I did at the top of the swatch.

This is what irishlacenet suggests to make a symmetrical one to two increase. It looks good.

Shown with a cast-on count of 16 stitches.   Getting chart...

  • Row 1 (RS): K2, *k1, yo, ssk, k2tog, yo, k1, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
  • Rows 2, 4, 6, and 8: Purl.
  • Row 3: K2, *k1, k2tog, yo, ssk, k1, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2 (multiple of 5 sts, plus 4).
  • Row 5: K2, *k2tog, yo, kfb, yo, ssk, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2 (multiple of 6 sts, plus 4).
  • Row 7: K2, *ssk, yo, k2, yo, k2tog, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
