mitered daisy stitch

Mitered daisy stitch, from knit side. Some might prefer to work from purl side, as the purl vn of 3-to-3 gather is more fun for some - k-side cdd likewise.
Worth trying an sssk version of the 3-to-3 gather - more steps but less awkward?

  • Row 1 (WS): Purl.
  • Row 2: P1, [3-to-3 gather, p1] 9 times.
  • Row 3: P17, cddp, p17 (35 sts).
  • Row 4: P1, k1, p1, [3-to-3 gather, p1] 3 times, k2, p1, k2, p1, [3-to-3 gather, p1] 3 times, k1, p1.
  • Row 5: P16, cddp, p16 (33 sts).
  • Row 6: P1, [3-to-3 gather, p1] 8 times.
  • Row 7: P15, cddp, p15 (31 sts).
  • Row 8: P1, k1, [p1, 3-to-3 gather] twice, p1, [3-to-3 gather] twice, [3-to-3 gather, p1] 3 times, k1, p1.
  • Row 9: P14, cddp, p14 (29 sts).
