Markers

The main motif slightly resembles the Google Maps pin, hence the pattern's name.

There are many ways the 5-to-1 decrease can be performed. Two ways that work well here are:

  1. Slip three stitches together as if to knit, k2tog, pass the three slipped stitches over the first stitch on the right needle,
    or
  2. K3tog, ssk, pass the second stitch on the right needle over the first stitch and off the needle (as in binding off).

Both these methods were used in the swatch.

  • Row 1 (RS): K4, k1 tbl, *k1, k1 tbl, k1, ssk, yo, k5, yo, k2tog, k1, k1 tbl, repeat from * to last 4 sts, k2tog, k1, sl1 wyib (multiple of 14 sts, plus 8).
  • Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12: Purl to last st, sl1 wyif.
  • Row 3: K5, *yo, k1, yo, k3, yo, k2tog, k3, ssk, yo, k3, repeat from * to last 3 sts, yo, k2, sl1 wyib (multiple of 16 sts, plus 9).
