Note: the book instructions say “knit into front and back of next stitch alternately 3 times” instead of (p1, k1, p1) in next stitch. However, while that instruction is clearly meant to make three stitches, it doesn’t match the picture. I think it could be (purl in front loop, purl in back loop, purl in front loop), though.

- Rows 1 and 5 (RS): Knit.
- Rows 2 and 6: Purl.
- Row 3: K5, *sl1-k2tog-psso, k5, repeat from * (multiple of 6 sts, plus 5).
- Row 4: P5, *(p1, k1, p1) in next st, p5, repeat from * (multiple of 8 sts, plus 5).
- Row 7: K1, *sl1-k2tog-psso, k5, repeat from * to last 4 sts, sl1-k2tog-psso, k1 (multiple of 6 sts, plus 3).
- Row 8: P1, *(p1, k1, p1) in next st, p5, repeat from * to last 2 sts, (p1, k1, p1) in next st, p1 (multiple of 8 sts, plus 5).
