This is the same as my original improvising pattern except that it starts in the middle of the motif. Moving the center decreases required adding rows to the pattern. I recommend adding edge stitches.

- Row 1 (RS): K2, *yo, ssk, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, repeat from *.
- Rows 2, 4, 6, and 8: Purl.
- Row 3: *Sl2-k1-p2sso, k1, yo, k2, yo, k1, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
- Row 5: K1, *yo, ssk, k2, k2tog, yo, k1, repeat from * to last st, k1.
- Row 7: K2, *k1, yo, k2, yo, k1, sl2-k1-p2sso, repeat from *.
