Variation of Barbara Walker's Triple L Tweed Stitch (S. 81 Treasury Of Knitting Patterns). The stitch map shows the middle section, when changing the direction of the diagonals. This pattern has a nice WS, like honeycomb. You only have to knit and slip stitches!

The CO number of the pattern is multiple of 3 sts plus 1. The first row after casting on (WS) is knit all stitches.

The pattern repeat is sl 1 wyib, k2 (right leaning) / k2, sl 1 wyib (left leaning) on RS rows.

This pattern makes a thick fabric, good for coats, suits, afghans, etc. Especially good for hems, as the pattern is 10% smaller than Stockinette Stitch and the fabric isn't curling.

If you want work the original color change pattern, CO and knit preparation row with color A, knit row 1 and 2 with color B, row 3 and 4 with color C and row 5 and 6 with color A.

The L-shaped spots of color alternate in an interesting nubby pattern and seem to be shadowing each other in diagonal lines.
