In rows 1-30, place a marker at the w&t. This marker will go before the w&t. So, for example, in row 2, knit 3, then place a marker, then do the w&t on stitch 4. These markers will be important later.
Shown with a cast-on count of 20 stitches.
- Rows 1, 3, 5, and 7 (WS): Purl.
- Row 2: K3, w&t (3 sts).
- Rows 4 and 10: K6, w&t (6 sts).
- Row 6: K9, w&t (9 sts).
- Rows 8 and 12: K12, w&t (12 sts).
- Row 9: P3, w&t (3 sts).
- Row 11: P9, w&t (9 sts).
- Row 13: Purl (0 more sts).

- multiple of 1 stitch, plus 18
