This is a symmetric version of the stitch pattern used for the Acorn Doll Blanket. ONLY the stitch pattern, border instructions not included.

I found a very similar stitch in a stitch dictionary: 500 Strickmuster, ISBN 3-8212-0196-7, Xenos 1984, (translated from English by Sandra Lauer), p. 57, Tautropfen. I think only the one purl stitch above the decrease is knitted in the Tautropfen instructions.
