This is a very old stitch pattern (published 1843). I compared the original version to a newer publication from 1983 and tried to find out about the wording. I am collecting my results in a WIKI: strickzeug.wikidot.com. Maybe I can decipher some less known patterns later. With the wonderful stitch maps technology, it would be able to catalog those patterns. A swatch photo would be nice and I encourage everybody to provide one.
Shown with a cast-on count of 40 stitches.
