Wheat Ear edging, main motif (aka Dayflower?)

Part of number 63 in "Knitting Lace" by Barbara Abbey.

This is very similar to Dayflower in Barbara Walker's "Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns". I think it must be one of the old patterns that she describes as so badly botched that the graceful lines are scarcely discernible. The swatch photo shows Wheat Ear Edging (left) and BW's version of Dayflower. I can see what she means.
