Starflower (original)
Stitch pattern used in Starflower Hat by Connie Chang Chinchio in Textured Stitches.
Note that the original instructions in the book neglected to instruct the knitter to move the beginning-of-rounds marker at the start of rounds 7 and 15. As a result, the stitch map shown below has odd jogs in it. See also this errata page, a modified version of this stitch pattern that doesn’t involve moving the beginning-of-rounds marker, and this blog post about the process of coming up with the modified version.

- Round 1: *Yo, k2, ssk, k3, k2tog, k2, yo, k1, repeat from *.
- Rounds 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20: Knit.
- Rounds 3 and 19: *K1, yo, k2, ssk, k1, k2tog, k2, yo, k2, repeat from *.
- Rounds 5 and 17: *K2, yo, k2, sl1-k2tog-psso, k2, yo, k3, repeat from *.
- Rounds 7 and 15: *K2, yo, k5, yo, k2, sl1-k2tog-psso, repeat from *.
- Rounds 9 and 13: *K2tog, k2, yo, k3, yo, k2, ssk, k1, repeat from *.
- Round 11: *K1, k2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, ssk, k2, repeat from *.
