Big Bird's Eye Pattern

Based on a Shetland lace stitch.

Special operation: Here I've used the slip 1 symbol to mean knit down into the yarnover hole (purl on WS).

The wrong side rows could be knitted rather than purled.

The pattern looks best seen from a distance. The large holes remind me of the open beaks of chicks in the nest.

  • Rows 2, 4, 10, and 12: Purl.
  • Row 3: K2, ssk, yo, *k1, yo, k2tog, yo, sl1-k2tog-psso, yo, repeat from * to last 5 sts, k1, yo, k2tog, k2.
