This experiment alternates one pattern repetition "worked every row" with another in which the WS is simply purled. In Rows 3, 5, 9 and 11 work ssk / k2tog, if preferred.

  • Rows 1 and 7 (RS): *K1, p2, yo, k1, k3tog, k1, yo, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1.
  • Row 2: P1, *k2, p5, k2, p1, repeat from *.
  • Rows 3 and 9: *K1, p2, k2tog, yo, p1, yo, k2tog, p2, repeat from * to last st, k1.
  • Row 4: P1, *k2, p2, k1, p2, k2, p1, repeat from *.
  • Rows 5 and 11: *K1, yo, p1, k2tog, p3, k2tog, p1, yo, repeat from * to last st, k1.
  • Row 6: P1, *p1, k1, p1, k3, p1, k1, p2, repeat from *.
  • Rows 8, 10, and 12: Purl.
