Scroll St. using Double YOs - each ro [...] (copy)

  • The first st and last st are simply edges I put there to "neaten-up" the Stitch Map, so they're totally disposable, not at all part of the pattern.
  • So, why did I decide that the world needed Yet _Another _Scroll Stitch pattern? Well, in my never-ending search for "the perfect waves", Ha!Ha! =;-) (("perfect" in terms of a different project that I had to alter "mid-stream" so to speak!)), I kept trying the "double yarnover" element/"sub-pattern" because I was trying …

  • So, why did I decide that the world needed Yet _Another _Scroll Stitch pattern? Well, in my never-ending search for "the perfect waves", Ha!Ha! =;-) (("perfect" in terms of a different project that I had to alter "mid-stream" so to speak!)), I kept trying the "double yarnover" element/"sub-pattern" because I was trying to figure-out another different overall pattern and liked the emphasis created by the double Yo....
  • Then I wanted a better "flow" in the double-YO columns, and tried to get rid of the "jinks" or "hiccups" between the last row (purl side) and the repeat of the first row (knit side). and just could not get it to work at all --- until I finally, out of frustration, made the FIRST row have a singleYO+Decrease element; the rest of the rows use the offset "Yo-stitch-Yo, x stitches, double decrease, y stitches".
  • It sounds more complicated than it is, LOL! - it boils down to the Yo-stitch pairs zig-zagging across a 16-stitch "grid", with the curvature made just by how knit fabric works.

  • I still have a couple of additional ideas I'd like to try, especially trying to come up with an additional "echo" wave, and some stitch variations inside some or all of the waves to provide more texture, BUT at least, I finally got the stitch count to 16 ((I need that for a specific item...)), and a decent flow going on with the YOs. So I have finally achieved a good base for my project, Hooray!!!

Shown with a cast-on count of 34 stitches.   Getting chart...
