Oak Leaves and Acorns, v2

Modified from Knitting Counterpanes* by Mary Walker Phillips. In this version:

  • The leaves feature mirrored k2tog and ssk.
  • The decreases create solid (rather than feathered) lines within the faggoting.
  • Each RS row begins with a slipped stitch to create a chain selvedge.
  • The increases that shape the acorns are now more symmetrical.
  • The WS set-up row is now a purl row.

Note that you get the nicest results when you work the k5tog at the top of the leaves as follows: slip 3 as if to k3tog, k2tog, pass 3 slipped sts over k2tog.
