Fan Flare

A lace pattern I found at KnittingFool.com. It obviously needs some kind of starting border. It is very similar to Old Shale (often mistakenly called Feather and Fan), but without the "ridge." The edges are slightly undulating. Start with casting on a multiple of 11 plus 2. Increases and decreases on the right side only.

Shown with a cast-on count of 24 stitches.   Getting chart...

  • Row 1 (RS): *P2, k2tog, [yo, k1] 5 times, yo, ssk, repeat from * to last 2 sts, p2 (multiple of 15 sts, plus 2).
  • Rows 2, 4, and 6: K2, purl to last 2 sts, k2.
  • Row 3: *P2, k2tog, k9, ssk, repeat from * to last 2 sts, p2 (multiple of 13 sts, plus 2).
  • Row 5: *P2, k2tog, k7, ssk, repeat from * to last 2 sts, p2 (multiple of 11 sts, plus 2).
