étude no. 1: cross stitch

I took a cross-stitch chart, put yarn overs where the marked squares were, and then figured out where to place decreases to make good lace. Here is my blog post about the process.

  • Row 1 (RS): K1, *yo, ssk, k1, yo, ssk, k3, k2tog, yo, k1, k2tog, yo, repeat from * to last st, k1.
  • Rows 2, 12, and 14: K1, *p13, repeat from * to last st, k1.
  • Row 3: K1, *k1, yo, ssk, k1, yo, yo, ssk, k1, k2tog, yo, yo, k1, k2tog, yo, k1, repeat from * to last st, k1 (multiple of 15 sts, plus 2).
  • Row 4: K1, *[p4, k1] twice, p5, repeat from * to last st, k1.
  • Row 5: K1, *k1, yo, k2tog, ssk, k1, [yo] 3 times, sl2-k1-p2sso, [yo] 3 times, k1, k2tog, ssk, yo, k1, repeat from * to last st, k1 (multiple of 17 sts, plus 2).
  • Row 6: K1, *p6, k1, p3, k1, p6, repeat from * to last st, k1.
  • Row 7: K1, *k2, yo, ssk, k9, k2tog, yo, k2, repeat from * to last st, k1.
  • Row 8: K1, *p17, repeat from * to last st, k1.
  • Row 9: K1, *ssk, k2, [yo] twice, sl1-k2tog-psso, sl2-k1-p2sso, k3tog, [yo] twice, k2, k2tog, repeat from * to last st, k1 (multiple of 13 sts, plus 2).
