Plaited cables with side loops

This is pattern 75 in "Field Guide to Knitting" by Jackie Pawlowski. It's a great little book, but I found the instructions for this pattern confusing at first. It's not clear that in some rows there are repeats within the repeat, and the description "16 stitch + 8 repeat" is ambiguous and a format not used elsewhere in the book. The photo doesn't help as it doesn't show how the pattern repeats. There's also an error in row 7 in the book: the p2 after the repeat asterisk should be deleted.

In this version I've rounded out the side loops (rows 3 to 7).
